Please, Scott Blair, tell me why China could not expand in the way described, because I cannot see any reason why not. |

Do you mean what i wrote it's from a popular science magazine but a quick yahoo seemes to prove the existence of this man and his travels this is not an ATL it's the truth. so now all we have to do is to have no lightningstrike and perhaps no epidemic to get emperor zhu di to sit on the throne long enough to make the money roll in from trade and taxes while establishing permanent tradingposts and whooptie when the spains and portuguese come sailing they'll be met by ships about3-4 times bigger than their own. the only problem there really could be is how far the chinese guntech is compared with european |

I've just read about a Mongolian/Arabian named Zheng He who under Emperor Zhu Di between 1405 & 1433 makes 7 seatravels from China over the Indian ocean to Eastafrica. This with about 300 ships and a crew of 30000 men. The biggest ships were treasureships and very big weight 3100 T crew of 1000 lenght 160-170 m. The reason it all went down the drain was that these expeditions along with new parts of the great wall, new channels, moving the capital to Beijing and huge mausoleums drained the finances. Then in 1421 lightning striked the forbidden city and the throneroom burned down. This caused Zhu Di to have nervous breakdown convinced that the gods wanted a new emperor same year an epidemic striked the Fujian-province 175000 deads. In july the army had to retreat from vietnam because of rebellion and the mongolians threatened the northen borders. 1423 Zhu Di dies and the son Zhu Gaozhi stops all expeditions in an attempt to save the finances. He dies in 1425 and his son Zhu Zhanji continues the policy only allowing the last trip to remind Chinas vasals to pay their tribute. Zheng He dies in the Indian Ocean and is buried there , the fleet return and is chopped up slowly the officials begins burning the oceanships and shipyards and all papers about shipbuilding and Zheng He. Maybe he sailed around the world because they have found chinese objects around the world for exampel the remains of a ship build in chinese wood in Sacramento , in the Caribean they have found ballast stone supposely from China. In Galle Sri Lanka he put up a stone that in chinese tamilian and persian declares that buddhism hinduism and islam is equal religions and they have found stones looking a lot like this on Cap Verde and at the spot where the Congoriver stops being accessible for oceanships. |

In the Dark Ages, and the Middle ages, China was the most technologically advanced country in the world. What would the world be like if China had not closed its doors to the rest of the world, if they had, like most other nations, expanded and conquered. Would they have taken the world? Or would someone have stopped them? If so who? The Mongolians, who did, after all, have the biggest empire EVER? If they had taken the world, what would have happened then? Would other nations have rebeled? Would humans just become one big super-race spanning the planet? If that happened, what would the effect be on the planet itself? Please tell me your thoughts on this. |
