Would Germany have gone Communist if not for the Nazis? If so, how would that have altered events in the mid-20th Century?

At some point in the past I decided to create two flags for the RRB (Soviet Bavaria, which existed for a month in 1919, IIRC). Here they are, submitted for your approval.

Räterepublik Bayern (Soviet Bavaria). The Germans refer to it largely as the Münchner Räterepublik, as the communists never had control of the whole province.

I'm aware that the actual flag was simply a red banner - the symbol of communist uprisings worldwide - but I'm quite sure that, had it lasted longer than a month, they would have adopted something a bit more distinctive. That's why I worked the old Bavarian blue into it. At any rate, I think mine is an improvement over the original, don't you?
