Picture of atocities were ten-a-penny in WW2. The photos that emerged from Auschwitz and the other concentration camps were thoroughly disgusting. Dresden gave photographers its fair share of unimaginable horror. Photos of Hiroshima even showed the world a scene that could not have even be...
...that's what it was called, but really it was two pictures. Printed side-by-side, in black and white, they depicted an event, one which was probably repeated dozens if not hundereds of times during the war, that came to symbolize the descent of the German people in the eyes of the world to the...
How could the type of music known commonly as funk originate and grow popular in the USSR? Bonus points if there is a way a politburo member is know for his ability to play snap & pop bass
They were, IMO, a deterrent and a prestige weapon. you don't use any deterrent against someone who has that that deterrent themselves ten thousand times over. I'm not sure 'bluff' is the right term, but honestly... I cannot see how they would escape enormous retaliation if they nuked the Red...
He would have to weight up the consequences of actually using them against the consequences of not using them. I cannot imagine he would find that, even from his POV, South Africa would be better off if he used them.
He would know full well the Soviet retaliation would be severe, to say the least
I'm sensing a major bias here as opposed to any actual objective analysis or comparison of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, so I think I'll leave you to it.

Of course, every army is only as good in a given situation as what it can bring to bear. But ArmchairPhilosopher seems to be hinting that he thinks the Red Army wasn't as good (or experienced, bizzarely) as the South Africans.
Possibly... lets say Wilhelm doesn't try to match the UK at sea, and France has a more aggressive colonising policy, the Brits might decide a German dominance confined to Europe is better than a French one over Europe and Africa
Are you serious? The red army would have annihilated the South Africans, in almost every respect (including experience) they had a huge advantage. It would have been no contest whatsoever.
