  1. Why is English a Germanic language?

In the other thread. Why are there two?
  2. Why is English a Germanic language?

Pretty much a tl;dr of what I said.
  3. Why isEnglish a Germanic language?

Pre-Roman, Brittania was Celtic. Then the Romans added Latin. 40-tish years after the Romans leave, the Germanic invasions began. In comes the Angles, the Saxons, and the Jutes (sp?). Hence, England (Angle-land). If you've ever seen Beowulf in the original Old English, you'll notice it is...
  4. A Red Dawn: American Revolution and Rebirth

I may be wrong, but I believe WWII ITTL originally does not include the Western Front for much of the war.
  5. A Red Dawn: American Revolution and Rebirth

On the plus side, Jello has already said there would be far more trains in the UASR. Combine that with no suburban sprawl, and you've got an America with a much lower dependence on oil. Especially if the UASR stays away from petrochemicals in its farming.
  6. Jesusland becomes reality.

You just condemned me to my own personal version of hell on earth. :D
  7. A Red Dawn: American Revolution and Rebirth

You're killing me. I got my hopes up that we were finally gonna see an update. Jello! Come back to us!
  8. Primavera di bellezza: An Italian Timeline

I have to agree with some of the other posters when it comes to the Italian Navy. I just don't see Mussolini being able to pay for any real kind of army/air force reforms on top of building all of those aircraft carriers. Right now, Mussolini only really needs to worry about Germany. Most of...
  9. WI No Louisiana Purchase

Napoleon loses the war a little sooner, and Britain moves into Louisianna... the South makes up a larger percentage of the country, so when slavery ends, it is because the southern states realize it is economically inefficient...around tech level of OTL 1880-90... the US never becomes...
  10. America and the Napoleonic Consulship

good TL, one thing though...there is no Austria-Hungary, true, but there is also no Kingdom of Hungary...its part of the Austrian Empire...though Hungary does have its own parliament (big deal in a more or less absolutist state....)
  11. A much larger Rome that survives until the present day.

completely agree...i have always loved this TL and it just keeps getting better and better...
  12. America and the Napoleonic Consulship

all pretty good, except Austria-Hungary doesn't exist yet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austria-Hungary also, the two-term limit thing did mostly come from GW...Thomas Jefferson was president during a period when there was only one real party- the Federalists had collapsed so all that was left...
  13. America and the Napoleonic Consulship

the only thing is, i think you are underestimating the extreme amount of influence George Washington had and still has on the politics of the US...there is a reason that no president ran for a third term till Teddy, and no pres succeeded until FDR...it is also the reason the US remained...
  14. America and the Napoleonic Consulship

Spain is still a monarchy...dynasties change...alliances shift...and the George Washington was VERY recently president..."no entangling alliances"...the US knows it may not be able to trust Spain for forever... and btw, yes I meant Jackson...he VERY much wanted Flordia...as his OTL actions...
  15. America and the Napoleonic Consulship

great TL, the Honored Province thing still strikes me as a little weird...and i still think the US would want Florida and New Orleans at least as a pride thing...especially if we get a certain westerner with a scar from a British saber as president....
  16. The United Kingdom of Britain and Sweden VS. The Napoleonic Empire

I've actually started thinking...what if the absolute monarchy manages to struggle on a few more years because of no involvement in the ARW...then when it goes completely bankrupt and fails to pay the army, the army seizes control...then with a military dictatorship...it would be just a matter...
  17. A much larger Rome that survives until the present day.

i love the expanded version...i read the original very quickly, as you were already in the late 800's when i started...it is nice to go back and reabsorb and also to see new stuff...
  18. The United Kingdom of Britain and Sweden VS. The Napoleonic Empire

Brandonazz gave me his permission to use this map as a starting point for a new thread. I want the POD to be a failed ARW...probably from France not joining in. I still want Napoleon to rise, however, and I'm not sure how to do it. Without France wasting enormous amounts of money for little gain...
  19. United (What?)s of America

Union of the Several Sovereign Republics...:D
  20. Kingfish in America

i watched a show on the History Channel about six months ago which talked about some new evidence that Japan was about a year (i think) from having a fully working atomic bomb... i will admit that there is some debate on the subject, as the wikipedia article...
