  1. HMS Invincible

Good work. Been absent for a while and just caught up. Sounds like both sides managed to impale themselves on the other’s guns.
  2. Why didn't Britain execute IRA members for treason in the 1970s and 1980s?

I'd like to think it's because we are more civilised now, having learned from the mistakes we made and crimes we committed in the past.
  3. HMCS Rainbow meets Titanic

Rainbow was also 130 men under her full crew capacity so additional space in mess decks. They could crowd people in for a few hours at least.
  4. No W-An Alternate 2000s TL

I've joined this party late and am enjoying it so far, but why did you have to kill Arthur C. Clarke?
  5. HMCS Rainbow meets Titanic

Also if you are thinking that the sinking without huge loss of life would still lead to safety improvements then you're likely to be disappointed. It would probably be treated like the Republic sinking and show that the ships sink slowly enough for help to arrive.
  6. HMCS Rainbow meets Titanic

    Standard practice at the time.
  7. HMCS Rainbow meets Titanic

Forget the radio, even if it's fixed they can't get help to them any quicker, Carpathia is coming as fast as she can and Californian has turned her set off. Maybe she could go alongside and take passengers off. About the only thing she can do is act as a refuge until other ships arrive.
  8. A Commonwealth Union.

You are right, I think, provided there is sufficient supply of money to meet needs.
  9. And Hell Followed

20th December 2015, Ministry of Defence. The Admiralty regrets to announce the loss on active service of Her Majesty's Ship Dragon. Next of kin have been informed. Daily Mail, 20th December 2015. MAD DOG KIM TAKES OUT DRAGON Brit warship killed saving escaping civilians. Last night Korean...
  10. A Commonwealth Union.

To be honest if you are talking about this immediately post war the Dominions have only been sovereign nations since 1931-ish so they would likely see attempts to create a Commonwealth Federation as Britain trying to get power back over them.
  11. AHC Argentina wins the Falklands War

But would they? Given the heavy loss of life and shipping losses would the UK public say stop getting our boys killed for some unknown islands or would the blood be up and it be vengeance at any cost? Could Britain bring enough diplomatic pressure to bear to put the financial pressure on Argentina?
  12. AHC Argentina wins the Falklands War

I would have thought that pilots capable of riveting the ships with cannon fire would have been able to hit them with rockets.
  13. A Commonwealth Union.

I have a feeling that the postwar British government would have problems backing a new currency and that shifting everyone onto Sterling would lead to a devaluation.
  14. No Light Fleet Carriers and More Fleet Carriers - Effects on the Smaller Navies

That's given me an idea of an Aircraft Carrier Alliance, where NATO nations operating small carriers pool together aircraft purchases to reduce unit costs, so the Dutch, Australians and Canadians all agree to operate Skyhawks for example and do a group order for 150 airframes instead or 3 orders...
  15. No Light Fleet Carriers and More Fleet Carriers - Effects on the Smaller Navies

There's always a possibility of an RN escort group of ASW frigates as a wartime NATO contingency.
  16. AHC Argentina wins the Falklands War

Losing three planes to take out a T42 seems reasonable. They've still got pretty much the same aircraft haven't they? Wonder how it would stack up against a T45? It's cold enough down there that it should be able to work.
  17. Poll: Best Way to Knock out the UK? (WW1)

Submarines, lots and lots of submarines. If it's moving, sink it. Even if it brings America in it will take them ages to organise and get into the lines so just go all out on merchant shipping to try and knock the Brits out before the Americans can make their weight felt. Offer Britain generous...
  18. Question. How stable was the British Empire post WWI?

The Statute of Westminster was the Dominions' reward for their part in the war.
