My new copy of the Smithsonian Magazine (published byt he Smithsonian Museum) arrived yesterday, and it had an A-H article examining four critical presidential elections, and what would have happened if on of the other candidates won.
Some of the what-if portions are relatively short compared to the establishment of the historical period, but they are all interesting.
The most interesting was the article on the election of 1860.
But for those of us that love to roll in the details of a period, this is a must stop.
