Hypothetically if Greece in the late 1920s decided to buy a couple of Battleships or Battlecruisers to counter Yavuz, what do you think they'd buy and who from?

If you are Turkey you rebuild Goeben, that cost about 1.5 million pounds. If you are Greece you complete Salamis to its modernised design, that would had cost about 3.5 million pounds, less than a pair of cruisers and the end result would be about on par with Dunkerque. Yugoslavia? Forget about it you were given a budget sufficient for 3 destroyers over a 2 decade period. Spain? Spain potentially if they don't build some of the cruisers they have enough money for a Nelson class ship.

Big oof, wow so Yugoslavia's navy sounds pretty sad. Oh and what kind of modernization's were proposed for Salamis?

One of the South American dreadnoughts, since Brazil at least tried to sell their ships several times. Then go and modernise it and they have a nice shiny battleship that in all likelihood sits in the harbor for 10-15 years before eating a Luftwaffe bomb.

I'd love to see a Yugoslav coastal defense ship on the level of something like what Sweden had. It's a fancy "battleship" for prestige to keep people happy and reminded how great their navy is and a useful distraction for enemies as the MTBs and minelayers do the heavy lifting.

Increase of top speed to 27 knots, anti-torpedo bulges, deck armor of up to 5in, increased elevation of 14in battery, modern arrangement of secondaries and heavier AA.
