What if Hilderic is not killed on Gelimers order?

What if Hilderic had not been killed at Gelimers order? How would ERE handle Africa if Hilderic was alive and in their possesion? Justinian's casus belli for invading hte Vandal kingdom was to reinstate Hilderic, a pro-Roman king who had been deposed by Hilderic. Hilderic was tolerant of the Catholic church, and relaced oppression against Catholics. Gelimer then led Arian coup of Vandal nobles which deposed Hilderic.

Good ending:He gets sent to Constantinople in order to live out his days as an honoured guest of Justinian.

Bad ending:He ‘succumbs to his wounds’ not long after the Romans ‘rescued’ him.

Justinian likely goes forward with invading Africa, with a different pretext. Like say restoring Roman lands seized by the Vandals to their original owners. If Hilderic is lucky, he's given an estate in Asia Minor to live the remainder of his days.

Few rulers have true friends. If Justinian really valued Hilderic as a friend, then the latter probably lives out his days in Constantinople with a nice villa.
Their friendship would likely not last. Justinian would be busy would other stuff, dealing with Hilderic would not have a purpose anymore. Hilderic might resent Julian for his actions(not giving him the throne, actions against vandal civilians, etc). Perhaps neither Hilderic nor Julian would be intersted in a friendship anymore? Even if they were interested in a continued relationship then it may just not work.
